Set up an bio page that gives teacher-focused information about you (education, employment, organizational memberships, hobbies or interests)
Create a current events page with an introduction and table that includes at least 2 news sites
Organize your pages that suits the order in what you wish to present

Assignment 2 (due by session 3 - we will present session 3 and discuss)
Create a survey using Google docs OR survey monkey (or another site if you know it) with 10 questions related to your the favorite course selection from the survey you took today. Assume this is the first day of class and that you have the student's phone number, year of graduation, and sex. You may ask questions which you believe can help you both in the subject area as well as connecting with the student.
When you have completed the survey, email the link to brm@pitt.edu

Select and article which you can use in a current events discussion for your class. Copy and past the article into a Word document and add 4 discussion questions for the students to answer.
Find a link to a web page which gives a good overview of fair use and copyright law as it pertains to articles, books, videos, essay/prose, poem, artwork/graphic image, broadcast program. In addition, find out under copyright law under what conditions can a movie be shown in school without obtaining permission from the copyright owner.
Send and email with 1) the article, 2) the link, and 3) the complete answer to the copyright regulations regarding showing movies in class.
Article reading and response due by Session 4: · Identify and describe at least two points raised which you buy into as valid or important ways to integrate technology into education. · Identify and describe at least two points of concern raised (either by the authors and/or you) regarding the methods or approach presented in the article. · Explain how you may use the information in the article to help you as a teacher.

Create a web page link on your SAS site with sources for students to research an issue or topic covered in the class which you are likely to teach next year. Include with sites a brief description of each site as well as a description of a current events assignment which you could use in a classroom.

PLEASE NOTE: I will not be evaluating your alignment to standards or lesson plans, but how you incorporate technology into a lesson. Some sort of informal plan should be included with the lesson. Be prepared with any materials at the start of class (such as handouts, statistics). As each lesson presentation should be no more than 15 minutes, you are not expected to have an entire lesson completed from start- to finish. Parts of the lesson presentation may not be directly performed in your presentation but are in support of it. Please have those parts available as reference/supplement to the lesson (for example, articles, podcast link).

Each student is required to present the hardware or software during one of those sessions and either show or explain how it can be used in a social studies education setting. Presentation topics will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis and are subject to prior approval by the instructor.

Present something not covered in this course that could/would be useful in social studies education and uses computer technology. It can be a hardware or software. The presentations are designed to help expose you to more technology options as well as with in-service/IU style peer training which you may either utilize or instruct at some point in your career.
